it's hard to look into my heart ...

Look into your heart - and go after what you really want (p.44 Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic Takes Manhattan)

see .. even "this kind of book" has a good advice.

Its not easy to look for a job, especially if you dont know what kind of job you want. What do I want to do? I honestly dont know ... all i know is i want to find smth different than my old job. I have looked into my heart and all i can see was cloud of uncertainty. But I picked up some options. Lets see what they are (in no particular order):

PRESCHOOL TEACHER
I thought I was an easy job .. It's not .. even that all u hv to do is play with children for 3-4 hours a day .. its exhausted ... physically tiring ... but at the end of the day, when u talk about your students with other teachers, about their progress, their first art work, their first fight, their first "sorry", all other silly things that your little students did ... sigh .. i cant describe how it feels like ... rewarding? not quite the rite word ... oh this brings back some memories .... i miss Paco Valks... my little dutch boy...he's one of my favorite (i know that teacher doesnt suppose to play favorite but what can i say?) ... maybe because he always came to the class very early and i got to hang out with him, just him without other students? ... i taught him how to flush the toilet, wash hands with soup and then dry with towel ... i made him to say ik hou van jou to me hahahaha ... i miss azusa, my little japanese princess ... she cried cos she didnt want to wear her Halloweens costume .. azusa with her grape symbol (gosh i still remember her symbol) ... azusa with her pouty lip but with a smile that will melt you heart ... azusa that always uses her left hand but the teachers always encouraged her to use her right hand (her mom TOLD us to do that) .... i miss ayaka, the tomboy one ... yang suka grasak grusuk, kalo jalan gak liat2 selalu nabrak kiri kanan ... i think she fell down and bumped her head for thousand times, but her mom never blamed us cos she knows ayaka's prone to 'little' accident hehehehe ... there was the genius yuri, who learned ABC from DVD and the smartest one in my class ... and of course little Jade. she's so chubby just like me and other teachers said she could be my daughter hehhehe ... i was at awe when her baby sitter told me that jade was on diet, so she should only have one portion of whatever snack we had during the day (gak boleh nambah). u should see her face when she was still hungry but she had to stop eating while all other friends were still munching .... i miss all my babies ...

PERSONAL SHOPPER
What I have in mind is not the person who works for a certain shop but rather someone who works for others to get them the coolest clothes in town hehehe …. I don’t know if there is such job here … well, at least in States every celebrity has his/her own personal shopper. But I’m not talking just about celebrity, the client could vary from busy business men/women or people who have too much money to spend so they think its cool to have a personal shopper. So how come this ‘certain’ interesting job even comes to my mind? Well, I love shopping and I think I have a good taste on what is good and what is not (but strange enough I don’t like to wear smth too fashiony –not sure if it’s even a word but u know what I mean-, I personally like smth simple. A t-shirt and comfortable stylish short will do for me). Anyway … the first person who called me her ‘personal shopper’ was a friend, Ms. Y from China, a friend from school. She didn’t really like shopping (don’t know now tho .. hmm maybe I should contact miss Y) and I’m crazy about shops. Don’t have to buy anything, but just tried everything that is nice and then put it back in the rack. This is why I like shops in Europe, the ‘helper’ doesn’t follow you around, if you need some help you just have to come to them. Back home, they will follow you around like you are some shopaholics. Once, I was looking at panties (on sale) from a famous department store, and this guy ‘the helper’ was following me around .. cmon … it’s a bit uncomfortable to have some stranger looking at what undies you’re checking on. I promise to myself that one day (if I hv the courage) I will tell those people to mind their own business and if I need help I will just shout (or maybe they works on bonuses for every item they sell?). Anyway, I don’t know how it started but one day Ms. Y decided that she would like to accompany me to Lindex .. one thing let to another and before long she was trying on t-shirts. And she actually bought more than I did I think .. hehehe…and then there was another venture to Vera Moda and Sisters. (RAN, do all these shops bring back some memories? hehehehe). And of course when we’re in Germany we actually did some shopping trips … even my mom became one of my victims hehehe … if I want to I could really persuade someone to buy smth that I think looks nice of them :P

PEACEKEEPING & UNV
This is (I think) something that I really want to do. I’ve been in the roster for almost 5 years now, but never got any news. A friend suggested me not to give up yet, they still need lots of people. Well how long should I wait then? I’m not getting any younger and one day I might start a family and this kind of thing will be impossible to do. Anyway, I updated my profile and will keep my fingers cross. I don’t think my family will agree with this option tho’. And I know this is not an easy job, you are basically ‘kind of’ put your self in danger. The living situation in those countries also not smth I have experienced before. But I don’t know why I’m drawn to this kind of job … but still …. I hope the UNV’s people will read this and hire me hehehehehe …

PRIVATE COMPANY
Are sure that you can adapt to the private company’s ways of doing business? Its different with NGO… I got this question from someone who know that for the past years I’ve been working for NGO and now applying for private companies … my answer was: I don’t know cos I never worked for a private companies before, but there is no so-called a perfect job, you have to compromise and Im more than willing to compromise. Yes .. I’m looking for a job with a big paycheck, if it means that I have to work for a big ugly private companies then be it .. it will be my choice and I have my own reasons. Hahahahaha … of course big paycheck will come a bit later but hey I’m willing to work my *** off. And if one day I don’t like what I do then I’m more than willing to work on smth totally different…

RESEARCH-related
This is more like what I did for the last 2 years … well don’t know what I should write about this … sigh … i wont say that i dont want to do this kind of job anymore, i just need to dig deeper into my soul to find the same passion I had when i was in university and still thinking about "saving the environment".

I think now we just have to wait and see ...

me and books

enggak kuatttttttttt .... mau confess ... ok ... i know that im in a very tight budget here ... but i've been to the book store for i dont know how many times, just sat/stand there and read those books. but, today i lost it .. i lost my self-control ... hiks ... so i bought two books today ... it means i need to cut back my other expenses ... hw come i cant control myself around books? does this mean that my relationship with books are much much deeper than clothes? ... sigh ...

ps: a friend brought me 3 indonesian books, and i read it all in 1,5 days ...

pss: when i say book, it means novel ok .. not text book or those look-like-pillow-heavy-thick books

another rambling thought

rambling thought ini biasanya keluar kalo suasana lagi gerimis mengundang kaya hari ini yg udh 3 kali ujan, hati lagi mellow, lg kesepian ngrasa gak punya temen ... intinya lagi lonely deh ... so this another one okeh?

jaman dulu sih mikirnya gw akan menikah saat umur 27 taon, dgn asumsi gw udh kerja dua tahun dan tentunya udh punya pasangan donk. Punya anak .. lalu balik kerja lagi. Tp pernah juga kepikiran mau ngurus anak dulu sampe udh agak gedean.

Time went by … and now im 30-ish and single.. don’t get me wrong I don’t mind being single, but maybe (well, not just maybe ... i know for sure) .. its not such a bad idea to have someone special.

but will i be a good wife and mother? tiba2 gw ngebayangin ... RT yg ideal buat gw yg kaya apa ya (dgn asumsi udh melalui masa pacaran yg menggelora loh. he? dangdut buanget enggak sih)

satu tahun pertama menikah maunya sih enggak punya anak dulu, mau mengenal dgn baik siapa sih cowo yg tidur di sebelah gue? siapa sih dia dibalik smua sifat2 baik dan sifat buruk yg selama ini dia tampilkan? mau berantem sepuas gw dulu dgn org yg ngaku jd suami gw. mau berbagi tugas masak, cucu piring, cuci baju, ngepel, nyetrika, dan sekali2 suami bikinin kejutan e.g. breakfast in bed? atau gw yg bikin kejutan buat suami e.g. hot bubble bath after a long day at the office maybe?... maybe, jalan2 keliling dunia berdua dulu. menikmati waktu kita berdua selagi bisa. malakukan hal gila berdua. pokoknya apanpun itu ... hanya KITA berdua.

Hamil ... maunya sih suami makin sayang. kalo bisa bukan kehamilan yg bikin susah. Maunya, evry night hubby melakkukan back rub (ktnya kalau hamil kan punggungnya sering sakit dan pegel kan), foot massage juga doank ah nanggung ... maunya kita selalu ngobrol ama bayi ... maunya suami sedikiiiiiit aja merasakan susahnya jd org hamil. mungkin suami yg ngidam??? atau suami yg mual2?? boleh deh dipilih. suami maksa gw minum susu (this is for sure will happen, i dont really 'crazy' bout milk). suami ikutan waktu USG pertama. suami ikuatan senam hamil. mau berantem ama suami krn kita beda pendapat mau tau kelamin sang bayi atau enggak. mau nya suami bilang 'i still love u no matter what', waktu gw ngerasa jelek dan gendut banget. dan suami berjanji sebulan sebelum melahirkan dia udh gak boleh tugas di luar kantor (kalo ada), tapi hrs dirumah nemenin gue sambil tetep menghibur gw yg merasa gendut dan tiap malem berbisik ke perut gw "good nite son or girl ... sleep tide"

melahirkan ... yah maunya alami. kalau sakit ya dilalui aja. yg jelas suami hrs disamping, jd kalau lg menahan sakit, masih bisa gigit atau nyubitin suami spy dia juga ikutan sakit heheheheheh ...maunya juga ada "paternity leave", jd sang ayah juga bisa bonding dgn sang baby. tp jd kepikiran juga sih gimana pembagian tugas yg adil ya? suami siang kan kerja, pasti cape donk. kalau sang ibu siang jg anak dan urus rumah, pasi cape juga. gantian nge-ronda? maunya sih suami masih melakukan back rub hehehhehe ... ps: gw seneng buanget ngeliat ayah2 yg gendong baby nya ...

kembali kerja atau tidak? ... this is really a though question. i just cant imagine myself (well at least now) being just a house wife ... i need to do smth else ... aku liat temenku ... pagi sebelum jam 9 antar anak #2 ke sekolah, ke pasar, balik ke rumah, bersih2 rumah, bawa anak#1 ke sekolah dan jemput anak #2, makan siang di luar ama anak#2, balik ke rumah, bantuin anak bikin PR, ngaso2, jemput anak#1, makan malam diluar (seringkali) ama suami dan anak, balik ke rumah, nemenin anak belajar, masuk kamar, bobo. THATS IT. emang gak semua kayak dia, but im stressed out just by watching her ... tp apa balik kerja juga pilihan yg lbh baik? cant asnwer this question ... i will just have to wait for my time to come then ...

(but they dont do that anymore, dont know why ... but i know my mom is not much a traveller). mau ada family holiday (even h). mau sekali2 out of the blue, suami looks into my eyes, and says 'honey, i love u'. dan gw tersipu malu (yah kayak masa pacaran lah). enggak tiap saat lah, ntar udh enggak istimewa lagi. yah setaon sekali cukup kok ... mau sekali2 nonton di bioskop and dinner berdua ama suami. enggak mau suami melalui 'mid life crisis' yg aneh2.

what a day ..

Do you know how a small complement could actually brighten up your day?

While waiting for my dinner, an uncle and aunty were giggling and laughing while looking at me. I was curious.

Me: what is it? [worried that I might have some liptick on my face, altho i didnt wear any make up that nite]

Uncle made some hand gesture that I look sleepy [he?].

Anyway, when my food is ready ...

Aunty: he said that you are pretty, always smiling

Uncle:
piĆ o liang [and put his thumb up]

Me: thank you [and could not wipe that smile off my face]

what a day .. jadi GR .. wink wink wink

and then i remember what my dad always says: you are beautiful but u need to lose some weight

urgh ....

why? ... beacuse ....

Why I love shopping?
I love the smell of new clothes or new books … love to have new stuff ... love the SALE sign … shopping is a good distraction from heartache, stress, job [besides food of course] …

Why I love swimming?
Cos I can say ‘hey I love exercise especially swimming’ although I just sat there in the swimming pool, watching people swim around [but I do swim though for most of the time] … no sweat involved … I think im quite good [hate do stuff that im not good at] …

Why I love traveling?
Love to visit new places and dream about it … it also means that I can shop there (even just for a tiny souvenir) … meet new people … try the local food … culture …

Why I love snorkeling?
Ah … all those beautiful colorful creatures … get tanned …

Why I love dogs?
Furry … cuddle-able [is this even a word?] … naughty … good companion …

Why I love chocolate?
A 'good' drug from Heaven … relaxing … love the smell … love the taste …

Why I like junk food?
Cos junk food is bad for u but damn delicious

Why I hate needle, doctor, hospital, dentist?
Cant stand the smell of hospital ... cant stand the drilling sound while you r waiting for your turn in the dentist and when it’s ur turn … hospital is not a happy place (except for the room where they put the babies) …

Why I love U [God, family, friends, u …]
Cos there is only one U in this whole wide world and U meant a lot to me ..

Jam 09.30 malam

Ii, kejadiannya sama kayak elo dulu ....

Deg, dlm sepersekian detik itu aku langsung deg2an. Ada kejadian apa? Siapa yg kena musibah?

Pintunya ke kunci dr luar ...

Hua hua hua hua ... gw ngakak gak berenti sampe E.M. bingung ngeliat gue yg udh terduduk di lantai Gue juga gak sadar apa waktu itu AW/MM juga ngakak apa enggak ya?

Jadi waktu itu elo buka pintu nya gimana?

Jadi critanya waktu itu, emang gue dgn latar belakang teknik gue berhasil membuka pintu yg terkunci dr luar dimana knop pintu itu udh gone. Lalu langsung lah gw kasih aba2 .... gini ...gitu .. terus ... bla bla bla ...Pokoknya itu telp berpindah dr AW ke MM balik ke AW lagi. Gw and EM rada nebak sih, apakah duo AW/MM berhasil buka itu pintu, krn menurut EM penjelasan gw ”rada2 sulit tp kebayang sih” ... abisnya kasih petunjuk buat bongkar kunci lwt telpon kan emang rada susah ...

eh tapi ya sebenernya kalau org lain yg gak tau apa yg terjadi dan mendengar pembicaraan gw akn terdengar rada ’porno’ .. ada kata2 lubang, ditekan kearah dalam jgn ditarik ke arah kita, pakai tuas diungkit. ... hehehehe .. ampe gue jalan ke MRT masih tersenyum2 sendiri. Tp 10 menit kemudian di telp ...

Elo kesini deh, I. Liat gimana pintu nya udh kebuka ...

Hahahahahaha .. akhirnya kursus buka pintu tanpa kunci gak ush diadakan lagi. Murid nya udh jadi master ....

Jemuran

gw jd teringat waktu masih nebeng ama moli. Biasanya abis nyuci (n kalo gak jalan keluar) gw selalu jemur baju ala spore. Jadi nantinya cucian kita kaya bendera berkibar gitu deh, yah baju, celana, undies … smuanya berkibar dengan merdeka dr jendela kita hehehhe. Pertama kali gw melakukannya ... my oh my … setelah gue jemur semua baju kira2 6 bambu, tangan gue gemetaran. Emang berat bo’.

im –ii- and im a shopaholic

I was bored (tremendously) and CS suggested Sophie Kinsella's shopaholic series. Now I can tell you that this is the book that I can relate to ... totally ...

And this is how I know that im a shopaholic (except from the fact that I like to shop even if its not for me)

….. I feel my whole body expand in relief. There’s a thrill about walking into a shop – any shop- which you can’t beat. It’s partly the anticipation, partly the buzzy, welcoming atmosphere, partly just the lovely newness of everything… (p.81, Confession of a Shopaholic)

That is IT. It explains really well how I feel when I walk into shops. Sometimes I'm so excited that I gasp and start to breathe heavily and senyum2 sendiri (kaya org gila gak sih?) … sigh … yes I'm –ii- and I'm a shopaholic (is there any AA meeting for shopaholic?).

DRAGON in PIG year

Characteristics of the DRAGON people:

The Dragon processes courage and leadership [masa sih??]. The Dragon is, however, naturally skeptical, as he/she may have been betrayed by people previously [bener nih .. sering ngerasa di betrayed hiks .. nasib nasib .. krn gw tlalu baik kali ye hehehe]. The Dragon is tough but also sensitive when handling problems [buener banget ... sensitip bgt ... nonton animal planet nangis ... baca harlequin nangis ... nonton pelem cinta2an nangis]. The Dragon is generally a risk taker [khusus utk hal2 yg enggak berlawanan dgn hukum loh ya, dan yg gak membahayakan jiwa raga] and is willing to fight to the end to overcome obstacles. The Dragon is independent [anak pertama & gak dimanaja .. pdhl pengen loh sekali2], analytical [salah besar nih, analycal skill gw nol besar] and self opinionated [ih bongkar2 rahasia nih]. The Dragon is inquisitive by nature and loves to learn [masa sih?], he/she is willing to look for solutions, even for the slightest problems. The Dragon craves for fame [kayaknya br kali ini deh ada yg nulis kayak gini, tp bener kok ... gw kan mau jadi artis wakakakak] and is energetic and lead a colorful life [amin amin amin ... mudah2an bs lbh colorful ya]. The Dragon attaches importance to appearance [gak ada salahnya kan?] and has excellent managerial capabilities in human resource management [apa ini clue buat gw utk ganti profesi?]. The Dragon is generally wise, courageous and generous and usually has what it takes to sustain him/her in any occupation [hear that? so hire me hurry]. The Dragon tends to chase after what he/she adores. Though The Dragon is not too capable in managing finance, he/she has a practical approach in earning income [bener banget kok ... dan ada buktinya ... bs liat juga di post selanjutnya ttg SOPHAHOLIC].

General luck in 2007

The Dragon will enjoy great fortune as all misfortune is washed away this year, The Dragon’s efforts will be easily recognized by the seniors and bosses this year, his/her studies and career will also be smooth sailing [that's what im hoping for]. With the help of benefactors, The Dragon will be able to avert most of the misfortune and will bring good luck to his/her family. The Dragon will enjoy many more happy occasions this year [TOBT banget deh].

Career luck in 2007

The Dragon will experience good fortune in his/her career life this year [in my case mungkin artinya gw bakal dpt kerjaan yg gw suka kali ye]. Everything is smooth-sailing and one can certainly look forward to promotions and opportunities to move up the ranks. The self employed Dragon and The Dragon running his/her own business will also enjoy good business. However, he/she should always be proactive in securing business deals and not let opportunities o slip by. Lady Luck in certainly smiling at The Dragon this year as compared last year.

Wealth luck in 2007

This year is an extremely auspicious year for The Dragon with regards to their wealth luck [yah kalo udh dpt kerja pasti donk "kekayaan" nya membaik]. The Dragon will benefit greatly is he/she invest or starts his/her own business. However, due to the presence of the LITTLE DEPLETION is their “Life Palace”, The Dragon might sometimes find it difficult to accumulate wealth if money management is poor [sophaholic with money in singapore? it's like 'flushing the money down the drain' ... will work on this matter tho]. This year, The Dragon should pay more attention to their door numbers, car license plate numbers and even telephone numbers. The God of Wealth might just come knocking on the door.

Health in 2007

Health of The Dragon is fair this year. The Dragon may suffer small ailments at times due to stress and worries and this might lead to frequent headaches and insomnia [already lah], The Dragon must not overwork himself/herself [how?], and should go for regular checkups, visiting the dentist [yeao .. forgot to do it when i was in Jkt] or donating blood [thought about it, but im scared of needle] to avert bloodshed in the upcoming year.

Love life in 2007

The Dragon will enjoy bliss and harmony if he/she is in love as the LOVE STAR is shining brightly in The Dragon’s “Life Palace”. Also, the single Dragon should participate more in social functions, he/she might just find a perfect match this year [socialize? .. ok i put it in my agenda :P].

Auspicious directions: North, Southwest and Southeast

Auspicious months: 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th and 11th month of the lunar calendar

Inauspicious months: 3rd, 5th, and 9th of the lunar calendar

Auspicious number: 4, 6

Love Poem

berikut ini adalah buktinya 'gila'nya anak2 P. Lg dikejar2 deadline ... diawali dgn chatting buat nanya info ttg project, lalu lahirlah ide kreatif (yg emang cukup sering muncul dibawah tekanan2 pekerjaan) dalam bentuk sebuah puisi cinta

cinta sepanjang coastal-line

sekukuh akar mangrove

yang tanpanya akan ada abrasi hati

memudarkan warna-warna biodiversity cinta

some parents ...

Contoh: kalau anaknya telp jauh2 mau minta pendapat ya dengerin dulu donk ah. Bukannya raised your voice sampe gw nyesel nelpon (gak bakal lagi deh). Berulang2 gw bilang gw cuma mau minta pendapat, baru deh calmed down. Situasi kayak gini nih yg bikin gue sama sekali enggak deket ama bokap. Adanya gue tambah stress ... tambah suntuk … tambah enggak betah … tambah segala2nya deh …

Now, I just don’t want to think … don’t want to chose .. don’t want to do anything …

what i like ...

What do I like bout Spore?

Definitely ESPLANADE. I went there for 3 days in the row already. It’s the perfect place to just sit on one of its couches, relax and enjoy your book and iPod. And apparently lots of people do that. Or maybe because they’re tired from the Hong Bao event and came here to use the toilet and enjoy the air con-ed rooms? Well, I did exactly that. Hehehehe

I like to sit there and watched people pass by. I consider myself as a ‘people observer’. Like to see what they are wearing and doing. You will amaze on some of things that I saw. I saw a grandma ‘breastfed’ her grandson. Yeap .. a grandma and a grandson.

Oh, i just found out that Esplanade has free event every weekend from Friday to Sunday. Well, this certainly will make my weekend more interesting. Yesterday I watched the quartet from Taiwan played a traditional Chinese music, and a band played some rocks song and even a lovey-dovey song. And … there’s fire works. How on earth the Esplanade funds this “free event”? it must cost a lot. THANKS ESPLANADE.

I think all I need to do now is pray so hard (and hopefully GOD listens to me) that Phantom of the Opera will also be a free event …(yeah rite .. keep on dreaming –ii-).

so boring lah ...

Let me summarize my first week:

Rooms hunting … saw the rooms … don’t like it … like it

Stayed at home ... online ...email … job hunting

Out to find smth to eat … went back home .. online … email … browsing .. job hunting

Interview … yes I had one interview … (a big thanks to ibu ucrit)

Singapore River Hong Bao 2007 … Esplanade …esplanade for the free events ..

Anyway, mungkin udh kebayang kali ya utk daerah2 yg amat sangat susah dijangkau ini yg namanya fasilitas pendidikan “kurang” menjadi perhatian pemerintah.

Biasanya sang guru tinggal naik kapal dr kampung sebelah bila saatnya mengajar. Tp kalau ada badai? Yah anak2 libur deh …

Tapi saya pernah bertemu dengan seorang ibu guru yang amat sangat luar biasa menurut saya. Beliau berasal dr suatu daerah yg amat sgt berbeda dgn Papua (maju maksudnya).

Kebayang enggak jalan segitu “bagus” nya buat apa? Kalau siang terik mana ada penduduk yg terbiasa bertelanjang kaki memakai jalan itu, kecuali kalau mereka mau kakinya melepuh. Yg mengeruk keuntungan hanya anjing2 lokal yg numpang “pup” di sana. Serius loh .. kalau kesana banyak bgt pup anjingnya. Ada lagi yg dpt “hadiah” mobil sbg kendaraan dinas. Nah ini yg bikin gue ngakak setengah mati. Lagi jalan2 sore … melewati jalan aspal (oh iya ini kampung yg plg maju loh .. jalan diaspal, dan ada yg jual es dung2 hehehe) … menyeberangi sungai kecil dgn jembatan kayu apung yg udh seadanya (aku udh takut loh jembatan itu enggak bisa menahan berat badanku :P) .. lalu terlihat lah mobil itu … hahahahaha … aku terus terang bingung banget .. buat apa mobil itu ada di kampung? Mau kemana?

Waktu aku kesana, mmg mengadakan acara pertemuan yg berhubungan dgn kerjaan kantor.

Udah ah cape ……

body combat ...

aku terbujuk oleh temen ku "setan cantik" untuk ikutan body combat. bayanganku sih kayak kelas boxing di Gerdahallen, tp my oh my .. ini sih high impact, banyak meloncat nya .. udah tau ankle ku yg udh gak beres. Gerakannya sih kayak umumnya lah, tapi banyak dikombinasikan. belum lagi semuanya serba cepet ... kaki ku yg masih nendang dan belum nyampe ke lantai, yg lain udh pada nonjok2, pokoknya high speed deh ... sebenernya sih asik banget nih, mungkin setelah 2 ato 3 kali dan udh inget kombinasi2 gerakannya ... btw di Sing juga ada loh mungkin join disana aja kali ya ...
